Do
you have an online presence in tact already? If not, you need to create one.
Blogs are one of the most popular ways today of building your online presence.
They can be used to either create a presence for business or personal reasons.
There are several platforms where you can start a free blog and there are paid
blogging platforms out there as well. Simply start up your blog and post
content as soon as you build it. You have to be sure you are getting traffic to
your blog to read the content once you post it, otherwise what purpose does the
content have. Below you will find ten ways to drive traffic to your blog so
that it will survive for the longevity of your business.
There
are hundreds of blogs that have failed because the owner simply did not put in
the effort or time to maintain it. You have to run your blog the same way you
would run your business website so that it is successful as well. The owners of
the blogs that failed just were not prepared to take on the work that is
required in order to make a blog successful. There is a lot more behind the
scenes than just building a blog and thinking people will automatically come.
It’s up to you to go after your target audience and provide them with a reason
to read your blog daily.
1. Fresh Content – Let’s face it,
there is not one person that wants to visit a boring blog that is never
updated. You want to be sure to post new content to it daily or at least twice
a week. The best way to get this done is to simply write a bunch of posts at
once so that you already have them. Then just update your blog with the new
content daily or two times a week.
2. SEO Marketing – You want to be sure
to always use relevant keywords in the content you write. Having a keyword
density of three to ten percent helps you to get a higher page ranking in the
search engines. You want to be sure to base your own keywords around the
popular words for the niche you are in.
3. Social Networking – There are tons
of social media sites on the Internet. You can join the majority of them for
free. Facebook, Twitter, Squidoo, and Myspace are among those free sites that
you can join. You want to sign up for an account, fill in your profile and
start to network and make connections. You can easily find other entrepreneurs
and bloggers on these sites to link up with.
4. Article Marketing – You want to
write content for both your blog and to submit to article directories. Whatever
your niche is, if it is something you are passionate about, you will allot the
time to write content about it. When you submit articles, be sure to promote
your blog in the resource box as well so that readers can easily find you.
5. Joining Forums – You want to join
business forums and work at home forums to network with tons of new people and
share your ideas. You are now a budding entrepreneur since you are a blogger
and you want to market yourself to the right crowds to get traffic and then
make money. Use your signature line on the forum to add your blog link so that
other members on there can find your blog.
6. Submit Blog to Search Engines – You
want your blog to get ranked, so you need to submit it to search engines. You
want the larger, more popular search engines like Yahoo and Google to crawl
your blog. This doesn’t guarantee a spot in top ranking but it helps greatly.
There is more work that needs to be done to get that top ranking you want.
7. Use RSS Feeds – RSS is an
abbreviation for “Really Simple Syndication.” Anytime readers go to your blog
they can subscribe to your feed and receive email updates whenever you post new
content. This is the simplest way for them to follow your blog and not have to
spend all their time online each day.
8. Social Bookmarking – People that
are members of social bookmarking sites can easily get to your blog when you
post your blog link to these sites.
9. Viral Marketing – You want your
blog to go viral so that everyone sees it. You can talk to your family and
friends about it, as well as pass out business cards that contain your blog
address. The more people that know about your blog, the quicker it will go
viral.
10. Visit other blogs – Anytime someone
visits your blog, you want to return the favor and visit theirs and leave a
comment. You can add your blog link to your comment you leave on their blog as
well.
In
order to get traffic flowing to your blog, use these methods to help you. You
can use one and perfect it or you can use a combination of them to drive traffic.
Once you have mastered some of them, try others until you have mastered them
all. This will definitely take some time but it will help you to eventually get
the readers that you want.
