Several internet marketers and small business owners are not
taking advantage of the timeline features and cover photo features on Facebook.
What they fail to realize is that this is a huge opportunity to drive
significant amounts of traffic to their website. In addition to updating your
status on the regular, use some of the steps mentioned below and they will help
you to boost traffic and your overall image.
-The first thing you want to do is change your cover picture
often. You want to do this at least two-three times a week. Once your friends
or followers see this new picture, they are more likely to click on it to see
what it is if it’s an interesting photo. This cover photo can be a funny
picture, inspirational picture, motivational picture, dramatic representation,
or just a collage of pictures. You just want to be sure to keep it updated and
interesting. Think of it this way, if you saw it, would you click on it. If
not, then your friends and followers probably won’t either. People are more apt
to visit your profile if you constantly show up in their newsfeed. Just don’t
overdo it.
-The second thing you want to do is use the feature that “pins”
your statuses. This will keep your most important posts pinned to the top of
your timeline. If there is something you want your friends to see such as a
special promotion or free offer, then pin it to the top so they will see it
first when visiting your page.
-The third thing to do is share as many photos as you
possibly can. A study has been done and it showed that images are shared more
than the text status updates. You can use a variety of your own personal
photos, photos your friends have shared, or just random interesting photos from
other sites. Interact with your friends, customers, or business partners and
have them upload and share photos as well. Try having a contest where you get
your friends and followers to upload one of their favorite photos and see who can
collect the most likes.
-The fourth step you want to do is periodically add things
to your historical timeline. Your friends will see in their newsfeed each time
you add any event to that historical timeline. Do this periodically so that you
don’t overwhelm their newsfeed and cause them to unfriend or unlike your.
-The fifth and final thing you want to do is stay away from
those third-party automatic posting platforms. Most of them won’t provide the ‘Share’
button when posting to your wall and that will defeat the purpose of using
social media sites like Facebook. Now, I’m not saying it’s not okay to use some
automation but doing direct postings to your wall yourself is very important.
So if you are not taking advantage of your Facebook timeline
right now, start implementing these steps or at least a couple of them. This
will surely send more traffic to your page and website and in turn increase
conversions and sales. If nothing else, be sure to update that cover picture!
Much Success,
